Krista’s Thoughts: Whether you’re a server, budding cryptozoologist, or cryptid yourself, Hexpresso is sure to give you the flavorful caffeine boost you need! Thanks to this Kickstarter-exclusive offering from Squatchy Games, we can further immerse ourselves into cryptid lore and partake in one of their supposed choice libations. After brewing up a pot, I am pleased to note there is quite a bit of versatility within the blend. Hexpresso is good hot, cold, with or without cream, sweetened or unsweetened, making it a great addition to our coffee station. The combination of dark chocolate, hazelnut, and oak accents the darkness of the brew while also bringing a well-rounded flavor to the blend without overpowering the beans themselves. We are both huge fans of the Cryptid Cafe board game and are looking forward to seeing more from both Squatchy Games and, hopefully, this IP. Though this offering will likely not be available again, if you managed to get a bag of Hexpresso, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Ryan’s Thoughts: Sometimes the best way to describe something is as simple as saying “It’s good.” Hexpresso starts with a terrific tasting bean and makes it the focus rather than the carrier for something else. It knows what it is and isn’t ashamed. There is flavor there, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t the first thing I noticed. From the first sniff opening the bag I could tell it was going to be something unique from the majority of the other coffees we have reviewed. This blend could easily have become my daily choice since it, as Krista mentioned, is so versatile and can be drank alongside food while also standing on its own as a tasty treat. Having worked in restaurants myself it was a blast to sit down with our new mugs and have the scent of freshly brewed beans and oaken subtones fill the air as we set up another game of Cryptid Cafe.

Much like the cryptids themselves, finding a bag of Hexpresso will sadly be an elusive quest only seen and experienced by a lucky few, adding to its mystique and legend. When we reached out to Squatchy Games and asked how we could get our hands on more, they told us that Hexpresso was to be provided as a reward for the Kickstarter only. This blend, like a Yeti’s footprint in the snow, will soon fade away and most likely never seen again. To those who have had a chance to try this rare find, savor it while you can, for you are among the fortunate.
