Ryan’s Thoughts: There’s nothing sneaky about this smuggler. Right from the first sip the subtle yet noticeable presence of vanilla rolls across your tongue like a ship set to sea. The sails of that ship are filled by the gentle push of spice and rum as it sets pace and you begin to lay a course for the day. This coffee blends well with breakfast fare of a sweeter variety and allows one to enjoy it slowly as they savor the flavors within. That’s not to say anything else about the day will be slow, however, as the brew will give you wind in your sails as well and help get your expedition underway!
Krista’s Thoughts: Though it’s been about a year since Geek Grind Coffee Company released their first flavored coffee, we have been somewhat hesitant to review it as many of the other flavors we have received from them have been quite lacking. However, I am in a pirate-y mood since Talk Like A Pirate Day is coming up on September 19th and I wanted to give Smuggler’s Run a real opportunity to try and shine – and shine it did! The flavor, as with most of Geek Grind’s flavored brews, was subtle, but far more noticeable than others we have had from them. It has been a few weeks since I have had a Geek Grind coffee in my cup and the moment the smooth brew touched my lips, I wanted to kick myself for it as I was instantly reminded of the quality of their coffee blends. While I still favor their unflavored brews, Smuggler’s Run may just be the one to change my opinion of them for the better!
